A 17-year-old student was taken into custody after he attacked a high school teacher's aide for taking away his video game at Matanzas High School in Florida. The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the death count in Turkey due to earthquakes rose to 44,218 on Friday night. The combined death count in the two countries rose to above 50,000.  Ankara:  The death count from the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria that struck on Feb. 6 surpassed 50,000 on Friday after Turkey declared more than 44,000 people died. The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the death count in Turkey due to earthquakes rose to 44,218 on Friday night. With Syria's latest announced death count of 5,914, the combined death count in the two countries rose to above 50,000.

Rescue operation underway after a wall of a building collapsed at Daurala in Meerut, Friday, Feb. 24, 2023.  LUCKNOW:  At least seven persons were killed and over 30 were trapped under the debris of an under-construction roof of a cold storage which collapsed in the Daurala area of Meerut district on Friday.   As per the local police sources, senior administrative and police officials including Meerut Divisional commissioner Selva Kumari J, IG Praveen Kumar, SSP Rohit Singh along with a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rushed to the spot to carry out rescue operations. He is survived by wife Pratibha Patil and two children - a son and a daughter. His last rites will be performed in Pune later in the day, the source said.
