High res here It is “highly likely” that the collapse of the Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine was caused by explosives planted by Russians, a team of legal experts assisting Ukraine’s prosecutors in their investigation said in preliminary findings released on Friday. Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Ukraine of destroying the Kakhovka dam as a Western-backed tactic to escalate the conflict. Russian airbase in Crimea rocked by blasts

Image
A series of explosions at a Russian air and naval base have left military analysts wondering what could have struck the site, which lies far outside the range of US missiles supplied to Ukraine, including the Himars multiple rocket launcher. In June, the US supplied Ukrainian forces with the advanced, precision-guided rocket system, which American officials have said is being used to hit Russian rear area bases and logistics hubs almost 70 kilometres behind the front line. But the Saki airbase, home to Russia’s Black Sea Attack Regiment, is 220km away from the nearest Ukrainian positions in Kherson, which is in the south of the country. More Ukrainians returned home than fled to the EU in July

Image
More Ukrainians returned to their home nation than fled to European Union countries last month, border police have revealed as they said the refugee crisis had stabilised over the summer. About 1.16 million Ukrainians entered the EU in July, a similar total to June and much smaller than the estimated 4 million who arrived in the first month of the war. EU border agency Frontex said about 1.17 million Ukrainians went the other way, most of them returning to Ukraine from Poland, Slovakia, Romania or Hungary. Some people are thought to go back and forth across the border and are not necessarily returning to Ukraine for good, while others headed for safer areas in the west of the country after fighting was concentrated in the south and east. However, Frontex said the refugee crisis had the potential to worsen again. One uncertainty is the fate of the millions of people who are displaced within Ukraine and could flee their temporary home if fighting spreads. READ MORE : https://www.thenati...
